As the new Congress settles in, now is the time to reach out to your Senators and Representatives to let them know about the higher education issues that you care about. Advocacy during Higher Education Act (HEA) negotiations is important, but educating and establishing a relationship with your members of Congress before that process begins is even more critical. Doing so will make it more likely that your members will be receptive to your concerns during the HEA reauthorization process.
So, how to do it? Some of the ways we encourage you to get involved include emailing your members of Congress, meeting with them (or their staff) in your state or district, and/or hosting events for them at your school.
Maybe that sounds daunting, but don’t worry! AccessLex can help with tools you can use to #MakeTheCase for strong policies that benefit schools and their students!
