AccessLex Institute Expands LexScholars Diversity Initiative

West Chester, PA – March 5, 2025 – AccessLex Institute® is proud to announce the LexPostBacc Direct program as an expansion of the LexScholars initiative and a testament to the Company’s continued commitment to supporting aspiring law students from underrepresented backgrounds.
LexScholars by AccessLex® is a diversity pathway initiative dedicated to broadening access to law school by providing free resources and guidance to promising aspiring law students whose talents and dedication may be understated by traditional admissions criteria. Since 2020, LexScholars has helped over 1,200 participants pursue their law school ambitions.
“Over the last five years, LexScholars has become the largest diversity pathway feeder into the nation’s law schools, aiding the enrollment of hundreds of aspiring law students from underrepresented racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The addition of LexPostBacc Direct will enhance our capacity to support aspiring law students who deserve an opportunity to fulfill their hopes and dreams,” said Aaron N. Taylor, Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the AccessLex Center for Legal Education Excellence®.
The LexScholars initiative now consists of three programs:
LexPreLaw, which provides participants with admission counseling, LSAT preparation, and financial assistance as they navigate the law school admission process.
LexPostBacc, which provides aspiring law students with exposure to foundational law school subjects via a 10-month law school prep curriculum. LexPostBacc participants, called Scholars, are referred to the program by participating law schools. Scholars receive an admission offer and a scholarship from their referring law school, conditioned on successful completion of the LexPostBacc curriculum. Successful Scholars also receive a stipend from AccessLex while in law school and a free Helix Bar Review course upon graduation.
LexPostBacc Direct, the latest expansion of the LexScholars initiative, allows aspiring law students to apply to LexPostBacc directly, without having to secure a law school referral. Direct Scholars gain access to the 10-month LexPostBacc curriculum. Scholars who successfully complete the curriculum and gain admission to law school receive a stipend from AccessLex while in law school and a free Helix Bar Review course upon graduation. The goal of LexPostBacc Direct is to help prepare Scholars for law school success while also increasing their chances of gaining law school admission.
All three LexScholars programs are built on a shared, foundational mission of AccessLex Institute: empowering the next generation of lawyers. AccessLex remains committed to encouraging and advancing a legal profession that reflects the multifaceted diversity of our nation.
LexPostBacc Direct will open for applications on April 1, 2025.
