NALP Study Brings Diverse Law School Alumni Insights to Light

Program: Directed Grants Program
Grantee: The NALP Foundation for Law Career Research and Education
Grant Amount: $40,000

Summary of Grant Outcomes

This grant funded participation fees for NALP’s annual Law School Alumni and Satisfaction Study, allowing under-resourced law schools to participate and ensuring the legal profession at large has access to detailed, comprehensive, and representative data. Drawing on three years of data (2019–2021), NALP reported strong employment outcomes, high and consistent graduate mobility, and overall satisfaction with legal skills preparation. The study also highlighted significant educational debt among graduates, with particularly high debt burdens for alumni of color. Participating schools received both their individual institutional data and the aggregate data as well. Importantly, this grant facilitated the inclusion of a more diverse range of schools, resulting in more accurate and representative insights. The culminating report is publicly available, contributing to the broader literature on alumni experiences.
