NYLS Evening Division Bar Pass Research Project | New York Law School | Grant Outcomes

This grant supported New York Law School’s strategic efforts to enhance and improve its flagship Evening Division, which has long been recognized as an important pipeline into legal practice for working professionals. The school’s task force reformatted and restructured the course offerings, resulting in such changes as hybrid (in-person and online/remote) course offerings; an optional “bar success semester” focusing on comprehensive bar preparation; and the creation of a dedicated academic support professional specifically for Evening Division students.

Feedback from current students and recent graduates emphasized that flexibility is especially important to working professionals who are studying for a law degree — something that is reflected in the redesigned Evening Division. These changes are all the more vital in view of recent changes and challenges in professional education during the ongoing pandemic.
