Justice Vaino H. Spencer was a co-founder of Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc. (BWL) and first African American woman judge in California. The BWL Foundation proudly sponsors the Justice Vaino Spencer Scholarship that is awarded to second- and third year law students who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement, community service and financial need.

2L and 3L law students (or 4L enrolled in part-time or evening programs) at an accredited law school or have passed the California first year student's examination
Expect to practice law in the Southern California area
Become an active member of Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc.

Scholarships this year may range from $500 - $5,000 or may include a bar prep tutorial package.
