Instructions

Please download, complete and submit with your application the AccessLex Institute Grants Budget Template. Please start by completing the Budget Coversheet followed by the individual project cost spreadsheets for each cost associated with the project. Most of the cost data on the Budget Summary tab will populate automatically based on the data you input on other tabs. Please be sure to review the budget summary tab for accuracy before submitting. Please fill in all yellow cells in this workbook; the red cells will automatically populate.

Budget Coversheet: Complete the budget coversheet first. The budget coversheet tab will be used to populate automatically the organization name and project title on other tabs.

Budget Summary: The budget summary tab provides a summary view of the total project budget by cost category. Most of the cost data on the budget summary tab will populate automatically based on the data you input on other tabs. Note: Indirect costs must be entered manually.  

Please be sure to review the budget summary tab for accuracy before submitting. Grantees are expected to report actual expenditures against this budget.

Personnel and Benefits: Provide only information for personnel that will receive salary under the project. Please provide only personnel titles; do not include personnel names in the budget.

Travel: List all travel costs necessary to complete the project. 

Consultants: Include all consulting costs associated with the project. Consulting costs include amounts paid to non-personnel who are retained to complete work for this project.

Subcontracts: Describe any subcontracts associated with the project. Subcontracts include work sourced from the primary grantee to another organization and funding is based on invoicing.

Subgrants: Describe any subgrants associated with the project. Subgrants include work sourced from the primary grantee to another organization and funding is provided upfront.

Other Direct Costs: Describe other direct costs associated with the project. Other costs are direct project expenses that do not fit into the other cost categories. Please clearly label and provide a brief description for each other cost listed.  

Other Sources of Funding: If this project will receive funding from other sources during the grant period of performance, please enter the names of the funders, funding amount and a brief explanation of how the funding will be allocated. Please also include funders who provide in-kind contributions. Please describe only sources of funding you will receive during the proposed grant period of performance.
