Since 1935, International Municipal Lawyers Association has been devoted to promoting excellence in the practice of local government law, through publications, conferences, online resources, amicus support and an active community of local government lawyer members. Named in honor of Charles Thompson, local government law lecturer, county attorney, and long-time Executive Director of IMLA, the IMLA Scholarships are an extension of IMLA’s activities, by encouraging law students to pursue the study of local government law and expanding the ranks of local government practitioners.
